- The ski season is well underway now and the weather we have been having over the past weeks has provided some excellent conditions at the Glencoe ski centre which is an hour's drive from Inveraray. For more information, see www..glencoemountain.co.uk
- Inveraray was featured in The Sunday Times 'Ecosse' section recently.
- A boat chartering company now operates from Oban offering high speed tours of the coast. One of these tours takes you to several castles in the area which you would be hard pushed to see by car over two or three days. There are more offerings to take you off the normal tourist trail on their website www.coastal-connection.co.uk
- There is now a deli in Inveraray which, amongst other goodies, will provide ready made meals for those who want to take a night off cooking for themselves.
- The Castle has been undergoing renovation work recently, although this doesn't effect the viewing of the public rooms.
- The George Hotel has had excellent reviews in the press - for its food, service and ambience. All very well deserved!
- The Scotsman newspaper's travel supplement recommended Inveraray as a place to visit in Argyll: "Near the head of Loch Fyne, the source of bountiful seafood and its famouse kipper, is the attractice model estate village of Inveraray, with the jail in the heart of the town recreating courtroom and prison conditions at the turn of the century, to help you imagine life in the old days behind bars"
- A good walk or a short drive out of Inveraray lies the small village of Furnace where you can enjoy the cosy atmosphere of the Furnace Inn. Built in the late 1700s, this traditional hostelry serves good home made food and plenty of it! For more information or to make a booking, you can call 0141 500 200.
